You never know what you can create until you do.
This is a reminder I grew up saying to myself as an artist, and it became one of the ideas that shaped Out of Office.
Out of Office was created from the belief that creativity can reconnect us to wonder, presence, and the beauty woven into everyday life.
Somewhere along the way, creativity can become something we feel we need to be good at - something productive, impressive, or worth sharing. But creativity was never meant to be reserved for artists, or left behind in childhood.
Sometimes, it’s simply about sitting down without an agenda. Choosing a color because you like it. Noticing the details around you. Making something just because your soul needs it.
Out of Office began as a personal return to those moments. What started with a desire to slow down, create, and notice the world again became a reminder that joy, curiosity, and inspiration were never meant to be left behind.
What We Make
Out of Office creates travel-inspired coloring collections rooted in place, memory, and everyday beauty.
Each collection is inspired by places that hold memories, meaning, and a sense of familiarity. Through illustration, color, and observation, each volume invites you to experience a place with a different perspective, and to find something beautiful in the places you already know.
Volume I begins in San Diego—the place I was born and the place I’ve always known as home. Some of my earliest memories are of my dad taking our family all around San Diego, especially along the coast. As a little girl, I experienced these places with a sense of curiosity and wonder that made even the familiar feel new. This collection is rooted in those memories and in the simple joy of discovering beauty in a place that has always been a part of me.
Why Coloring?
Because you don't have to be an artist to create.
You don't have to know what you're doing. You don't have to make something perfect.
Coloring gives us permission to step away from constant function and simply be present. To put down the phone, quiet the noise, and let our minds wander back to that childlike playfulness.
Out of Office is an invitation to step away from the constant function of everyday life, reconnect with the childlike lens through which we once saw the world, and rediscover the parts of life that make us feel most alive.
